The 1974 Tasman Series was an international motor racing competition that commenced on January 5 and ended on February 24 at the Adelaide '100' at Adelaide International Raceway after eight races. The first four races were held in New Zealand and the last four races were held in Australia.
The Championship, which was the eleventh Tasman Championship, was open to racing cars complying with the Tasman Formula. The winner was awarded the Tasman Cup.
Graeme Lawrence's F5000 Lola T332 Chevrolet 5.0L V8 qualified in 9th position for the Round 8 Adelaide '100' at the Adelaide International Raceway with a lap time of 51.3s behind the likes of Peter Gethin (8th Place) who was the eventual Championship Winner, Warwick Brown's Lola T332 (5th Place), Frank Matich's Matich A53 (2nd Place) and Max Stewart's Lola T330 who qualified in 1st Place.
On race day, Lawrence didn't quite have the pace of the front runners Peter Gethin and Warwick Brown, however he fought hard over the 70 race laps (168.70 Km) and finished a valiant 3rd place in a total time of 1h 01m 34.7s
Warwick Brown and Peter Gethin would finish 1st and 2nd respectively only a matter of seconds ahead of the 3rd place Lawrence and right behind him in 4th place was Frank Matich. These first four drivers were the only drivers able to complete the entire 70 race laps.
Lawrence would ultimately finish equal 8th overall in the 1974 Tasman Series with a noteable 3rd place in Round 4 at Teretonga International at Teretonga Park in New Zealand and then his subsequent 3rd placing in Adelaide in Round 8.
- The front wheel rims on the Lola feature sanded racing slicks. Note the intricate paint finishes to replicate the racing rims.
- The large side mounted radiators are finely crafted and feature an etch metal plate.
- The cockpit dash features detailed instrumentation and the light weight racing seat is cut down to the bare essentials, leaving no room for comfort.
- AThe V8s demand for air is fed by the air scoop on top of the engine cover. The engine cover is removable to display the engine.
- With the engine cover removed the fine craftsmanship of the V8 can be appreciated along with the clamps on the velocity stacks.
- The front wheels have working suspension with metal coil springs and fully functioning steering.
- The rear suspension is accurately represented with metal coil springs and linkages. Note the size of the rear tyres.
- The large rear wing, with amazing strut detail, helps keep the rear of the car held down on the racing circuit.
- Limited Edition of only 350.
